Remove Unnecessary Clutter When Revamping Your Kitchen

Having one of those delightfully minimalist kitchens such as the ones you see in the home and a lifestyle magazine is achievable, believe it or not, but it does take a certain amount of will power. You need to change the 'keep hold of everything' attitude and get rid of anything that is out of date or that you don't use. Essentially, what you need to do is streamline your kitchen – both on top of your counters and below – so that you are left with only the real kitchen essentials to help you to get the most out of your cooking space.

To do the job well you will need a good amount of time, so don't decide to de-clutter half an hour before the school run as you simply won't get anything done. And it helps to be prepared for the job, so give yourself a good space to sort everything through and have all your best cleaning products ready so that you can clean as you go.It is very easy to flit to other areas once you start de-cluttering, so try to remain focused. Just de-clutter a single shelf or drawer at a time and don't get distracted. Again, use your two boxes or an area where you can pile things so you don't have to visit other rooms until the very end of your task. The problem with kitchen cupboards is that it's all too easy to lose things at the back and never see them again. Make sure you get all things out where they can be seen then think how long ago you used each item. If it's four years ago, or never, then get rid of them. If it's last month or yesterday, then keep them.
So next time you wonder why you're no good at getting a decent family meal on the table or haven't quite honed those baking skills yet, it could be because you are in desperate need of a kitchen de-clutter.
